TECOM Demonstrates WiMAX Total Solutions for M-Taiwan Project

With more than two decades in the network communications industry, TECOM is Taiwan’s leading vendor for wireless networking base stations. With its superior capabilities in the development of core WiMAX technologies and its extensive industry experience, TECOM stood out from a crowd of rivals in winning selection by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Taiwanas the exclusive base station developer for the WiMAX Acceleration Program. In this role, TECOM is taking charge of the development of proprietary domestic WiMAX base station technologies. The company demonstrated the results of those efforts and value-added applications they make possible at the 2007 Taipei WiMAX Showcase & Conference.

TECOM chairman Dr. C-K. Liu noted the company’s long-term involvement in the development of long-range wireless network base station technology. TECOM not only possesses a competitive advantage in base station technologies, it also leads the industry in WiMAX integrated access technologies, product development, and network management applications. TECOM is Taiwan’s only vendor able to provide a total solution for WiMAX technologies. In support of the government’s M-Taiwan Project, and in coordination with the Taiwan WiMAX Development Blueprint plan, TECOM is bringing its considerable R&D resources and experience with base stations to bear on domestic development of WiMAX base station core technologies and technical collaboration with Intel.

TECOM is also working with its international partner Alvarion to implement the use of WiMAX technologies to support for mobile medical, business and education applications in Ren-Ai Township, Nantou County, a rugged mountainous region of central Taiwan. The project is part of the M-Taiwan Project, which aims to transform Taiwan into one of the most advanced e-nations in Asia by 2008.

At the 2007 Taipei WiMAX Showcase & Conference, TECOM gave visitors a comprehensive overview of its technological capabilities and stellar achievements thus far. TECOM is demonstrating to the world Taiwan’s leadership in the WiMAX space, and its role in creating the boundless new business opportunities made possible by WiMAX technologies.
